Forget 'What Child Is This?' it was more like...

What Child is This? - Shawn Bailey

What the f#@k is this? This book was without a doubt the worst Christmas story I read this year. I don't know if it was insta-love or insta-lust but nothing worked for me. Paris was given up at birth by his mother and lived his entire life (18 years) in an orphanage and is now traveling half way across the country to his first job as a housekeeper/nanny/bookkeeper for a 20 year old father of a 2 year old boy (how convenient). Luckily for all concerned Paris is perfect for the job. He's exactly the type of man that Wyatt (our Peach Plantation/farmer/whatever owner) is attracted to, he's a whiz kid when it comes to technology and accounting, he's a fabulous cook, Jeff loves him on sight (Wyatt's 2 year old son, who is usually very shy and reserved with strangers) and the list goes on and on add nauseum. I don't need loads of angst or conflict in my stories but something more than housekeeping, a 2 year old with an ear infection and the anxiety of watching a young child go off to daycare (which by the way is a very healthy thing for  an only child's social skills). Yeah, done it seen it been there got the tee shirt and the sweatshirt...so in general boooorrrrriiingggg!!!! It was a case of thank heavens this is a short story.

And last but not least what the hell is with the whole 'I love you, I want to marry you and make you my son's guardian but you're such a wonderful housekeeper/nanny/bookkeeper that I'm going to continue to pay you for your services, sorry but really just wtf?

(show spoiler)

This was as I have just discovered my first read for this author. I don't know if it will be my last but I do know I will be very selective in future if I decide to take another try at this authors stories. I did take a gander at some of the reviews for this book and I noticed that they ran the gambit from 1 star to 5. So while this wasn't to my liking it may be exactly what someone else is looking for.
