Once upon a time. In a land far, far away...

Easy Evenings (Mangrove Stories Book 4) - Mary Calmes

Ok, maybe it was just down in Florida, there lived a young man...

Yep, nailed it as I was reading this book all that kept floating around my brain was the fact that this is like reading a fairy tale. Except definitely for adults. We have Cinderella (or in this case Lazlo Maguire) and his evil step-mother and step-sisters (on this time it's his mom and half-sister), then we have Prince Charming (we'll call him Britton Lassiter) and we even have a fairy godmother (Delilah Evanston, Chairwoman of the town council) and an assortment of other characters who we've met in previous Mangrove books thrown in.

I loved it. It reminded me of when I was a child and I would read Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White all those wonderful fairy tales that led me to a lifetime of travel and adventure through books. I never questioned what was and wasn't real or possible I just opened the book and took the adventure it offered and I think that's a big part of the reason that I love this author so much because when I read her books I just open them and take the adventure that's offered. It's fun, it's often times weirdly displaced from the reality of what can, is or should be but at the end of it there's a happily ever after that leaves me smiling and feeling good. My only regret...you guessed it, I wish it had been longer.
