I decided to read this series because I was absolutely astounded by how many people loved it and I just had to see what the big deal was. What I discovered is that the big deal is an incredibly well written story.

Things started out ok for me. I was definitely interested very early into the story but to be honest I was still wondering why everyone seemed to find these books so amazing. Laurent was coming across as a bit of a cold hearted bastard, Damen seemed to be an ok...not amazing or wonderful mind you, just an ok guy who got trapped in some pretty crappy circumstances through no real fault of his own. So I decided to keep reading and see where things went for him because the one thing that I definitely was enjoying was the interaction 'between Damen and Laurent. These two are the epitome of a love/hate relationship. They just seem to love hating each other and it fascinated me. Somewhere in there and I really can't say exactly where I went from 'this is good, nice story' to 'HOLYHELLIWANTMORE!!!' and thankfully I can have more because book 2 & 3 are patiently waiting on my e-reader for me.

If you asked me to explain what I like so much about this story I'd be at a loss for words. For whatever reason it all began to work the world, the characters, the actions and interactions it all just grabbed my interest and refused to let go. If you want to know more I honestly suggest you go to GR and check out the reviews already there because anything more that I can say has probably already been said and with more finesse than I could ever hope to display as for me...I'm on to the next book, of course.
