Reading Habits of a Bookfanatic...

i didn't have a chance to do this the first time I saw post so when I saw it today I decided I just needed to make the time.

1. Do you have a certain place in your home for reading?

I like to read any chance I get but if I have my way it's curled up on the couch with my furbaby draped across the back looking out the window and me curled up under a blanket.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmark, I have everything from cheap paper ones to beautiful expensive ones that have been gifted to me by family and friends (I save these for those rare and special hard copy books that I indulge in).

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop read after a chapter / certain number of pages?

I can just stop reading as long as it's not in the middle of a sentence but my preference is to stop at the end of a chapter if I'm able to.

4. Do you eat or drink while read?

Sometimes if I'm going to  curl up for an afternoon of reading I enjoy having something to nibble on while I read or a cup of coffee if it's early morning.

5. Multitasking: music or TV while reading?

Music is ok, but mostly I prefer to read with no distractions.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

I use to read several at a time but these days more often than not it's just one book at a time.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

Anywhere I can. At home, in the car if I'm not driving of course, at our trailer in the summer time, waiting to see my doctor or dentist. My e-reader and I are joined at the hip.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head. I only read out loud if I'm reading to someone.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Never. I might skim over pages but I never skip them entirely I worry that I might miss something important if I do and I quit peeking a the end of the book a long time ago because I actually spoiled the story for myself by doing this on a couple of occasions.

10. Barking the spine or keeping it like new?

Keeping it new. I've had a lot of people look at my bookshelves and ask me why I own so many books if I'm not going to read them and then I point out all the ones that I've read and they ask me how I keep them looking so new. I just smile and tell them it's my super power.

11. Do you write in your books?

Never...I have lots of notepads and loose paper that is meant for writing notes on. It's just not my thing and I like to keep my books all in the best condition possible so writing in them is counter productive to that goal and yet weirdly enough it doesn't bother me that other people choose to write notes in their books because I also see this as just another way that a person shows their love of reading and so while it's not my thing to write in books. Expressing a person's love of reading in my eyes is never a bad thing and each individual should be able to do it in their own way.
